The president has assailed the Supreme Court’s decision on campaign financing, and tonight said, “The Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign companies — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, and worse, by foreign entities.”
As Obama attacked the Roberts Supreme Court, the Chief Justice sat in the front row & shook his head while mouthing something like “That’s not true”
Fast forward to June 28, 2012
The Supreme Court delivers it’s decision on the ObamaCare bill. While MOST of us expected a 5-4 split with the conservative judges being joined by Justice Kennedy to strike down the healthcare bill, either in its entirety, or at the very minimum, the individual mandate, today’s outcome was quite unexpected.
Had we gotten the expected outcome, Obama and the left would have cried for decades about the ‘activist judges’ those conservatives overpowering the ‘will of the people’, and while the verdict would remain, it would be be tainted with the appearance of partisanship.
Instead, Chief Justice Roberts, sided with the liberal judges, and said that while the individual mandate cannot stand under the Commerce clause (the expected outcome) they said that it CAN stand under Congress’s power to tax.
In fact, the Obamacare bill was originally written as a tax, but rewritten, when it was decided that they would never get it passed as a tax. Obama denied that it was a tax, month after month, interview after interview, but when it came to the Supreme court, the lawyers, not being politicians declared that it was, in fact, a tax.
So Obamacare is Constitutional after all, and Obama wins & the left celebrates.
All day long, as the conservatives cried on Twitter, I seemed to be in a dream, seeing something completely different, and this blog was delayed by hours, as I did my best to calm the fears.
Chief Justice Roberts, protected us from Congressional overreach by striking down the Commerce clause, but he did so much more than that… let’s wind the clock back again….
During his campaign in 1988, George H. W. Bush’s campaign slogan was “Read my lips!! No New Taxes!!” But in 1989, Bush reneged on a 1988 campaign promise and after a struggle with Congress, signed an increase in taxes that Congress had passed. In the wake of economic concerns, he lost the 1992 presidential election to Democrat Bill Clinton.
Fast forward to 2008: Day after day, Obama promised “If you make less than $250,000, I promise, you will not see one dime in new taxes!!!”
Chief Justice handed Obama a win, but it was actually a ticking time bomb. There is no way in hell that Obama can get reelected with his entire Healthcare package being labeled as a tax.
This is by itself, the LARGEST tax hike in U.S, History, and Chief Justice Roberts has handed the White House to Romney come November.
How is THAT Barack, for a lesson on separate but EQUAL branches of government? Check and mate!!
Add to this, the fact that in 2010, as Obamacare was being rammed down our throats, we took 80 seats from the liberals & took control of the House. THIS year, we will win more, and get control of the Senate as well, making it a very easy task to repeal the perfectly (yet reprehensible) Obamacare.
Late today, Dick Morris and Nina Easton started getting airtime & confirmed my thoughts on the real victor in the fight, Morris even hinting at the possibility of Roberts getting some retribution
